India is a diverse country. If anyone will go there, he will feel like home because the people there are very polite and helpful. Though India also has many defects and problems but it also has a happy and delightful side. Let’s look at the 10 amazing and interesting facts about India that you probably don’t know.

NUMBER 1. Kumbh Mela

Kumbh Mela is a religious fair. This fair is really large. In this fair mass Hindus join to bath in the sacred river. It is held every 12 year and every time more than 100 million people join this fair. It is the biggest religious gathering in the world. Even in 2011 the mass was so large that it was visible from space!!

NUMBER 2. Bandra-Worli Sea Link

Check on Google, what is the circumference of Earth. If you think that is a lot kilometres then check out the length of the steel wires of Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Yes, the length of those steel wires is equal to the circumference of Earth. This is awesome!

NUMBER 3. The first rocket in India was transported on a bicycle.

Though, this sounds amusing to you but not to the Indians. Indians are king of “jugaad” i.e. life hacks. They have numerous ways to save time and money and also some fun. The first Indian rocket was so light and small that members of the launching board decided to transport it on bicycle to the Thumba Launching Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

NUMBER 4. Diamonds were first mined in India.

Yes, this is true. Before Brazil stated mining diamonds in the 18th century, Indians were already doing that mining in the alluvial deposits in Guntur and Krishna District of Krishna River Delta. India led the world to the diamond production.

NUMBER 5. India- The mobile phone world

India has more mobile phones than toilet. According to a research by UN, it is found that Indians have more access to mobiles than a toilet and improved sanitation. Around 800 million people in India defecate in open and roughly 400 million Indians have access to toilet and proper sanitation. While on the other hand, there are 80 cell phones per 100 people in India. That is about 1,017,968,757 cell phones for the population of 1,364,270,000 people.

NUMBER 6. India discovered water on Moon.

This is 100% true. In 2009, India’s first Moon satellite Chandrayaan-1 became the first to detect water on Moon, using its Moon Mineralogy Mapper. It was a great achievement for ISRO and for the people of India and the whole world.

NUMBER 7. There are more people in India than the entire western hemisphere.

You all know India is the second most populated country in the world. Currently, the population of India is almost 1.311 billion. That is about 18% of world population. Birth rate is very high in India as compared to its death rate. Due to unbalance in birth and death rate there is a constant increase in global warming and pollution in India. Now population of western hemisphere is slightly below 1 billion but India’s population is 1.311 billion.

NUMBER 8. Indian National Kabaddi team has never lost.

Indian National Kabaddi team has won all the World Cups till now and have been undefeated throughout these tournaments. Even, the National Women’s Kabaddi team has also won all the Kabaddi World Cups held till date.

NUMBER 9. Shampoo invented in India.

Shampoo invented in India, not that they look like those commercial liquid you see now. They were a mixture of lots of herbs. Shampoo originated in the eastern regions of Mughal Empire that ruled erstwhile India. It date backs to 1762. Even the word “shampoo” is taken from the Sanskrit word “chāmpo”.

NUMBER 10. India has zero rupee note.

Like its name, a zero rupee note has not economic value. Since India is a very corrupted country, this note is given by angry citizens to the corrupted officials who ask for bribe in return of their duty. This note is published by non-governmental organization known as 5th pillar. Since its inception in 2007, over 2.5 million zero rupee notes are distributed as of August 2004. So basically this note is to teach the corrupted officials that they are here to help citizens not to force them.
